At Blue Ledge Farm we believe in a food system that is based on a cornerstone of respect for the land, the animals and the consumer as well as our local community. We celebrate the opportunity to raise healthy, contented animals and make great cheese!
Since 2002 we have been producing hand-crafted goat cheeses from our grass-fed herd of dairy goats. In 2008 we established a line of semi-aged and aged cow’s milk cheeses as well, purchasing milk from a single family farm who milk Ayrshire cows. We became an Animal Welfare Farm in 2015, allowing the label to speak for our values as kind stewards of animals and the land. Our cheeses have won several national and regional awards, including a few Best of Class at the American Cheese Society Annual Competition.
Why the name Blue Ledge? When we first saw our farm we noticed the ribbon of protruding rock ledge in the pasture, and we knew it was the perfect farm for goats! The ledge is still the herds’ favorite place to be.
